ISI: Antidote to Leftist Rot In Higher Education

We all know how leftist rot permiates and perpetuates itself at college campuses today. The left's thought-police are stifling a generation to explore critical, free, thinking. That is why I am mentioning how blessed and lucky we are to have the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, a conservative organization for college students and academics.

To quote them:

"The Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) is a non-profit, non-partisan, tax-exempt educational organization whose purpose is to further in successive generations of college youth a better understanding of the values and institutions that sustain a free and humane society.

Founded in 1953, ISI works "to educate for liberty" — to identify the best and the brightest college students and to nurture in these future leaders the American ideal of ordered liberty. To accomplish this goal, ISI seeks to enhance the rising generation's knowledge of our nation's founding principles — limited government, individual liberty, personal responsibility, the rule of law, market economy, and moral norms.

A National Campus Presence Through its integrated program of lectures, conferences, publications, and fellowships, the Institute annually works with hundreds of thousands of students and faculty from coast to coast. An array of free publications and other resources is available to students and teachers."

This ideal is so rare. It needs to be fostered and nurtured. Visit ISI: http://www.isi.org/ .

Explaining Limbaugh to a Liberal Rush Hating Obamaniac!

Today I got another one of those emails we get from an Obama "kool-aid" drinking liberal. She forwarded an excerpt from some lefty-blogger that was ridiculing Rush and his speech at CPAC last week. I'm not going to include that typical Rush bashing blog, but I spent time trying to explain to my liberal friend why Rush has the influence he does in the Conservative world.

"Dear Liberal Linda,

Obviously you miss the major points of the attraction 20,000,000+ people have to Limbaugh.

1. There is a fundamental difference in the view of Limbaugh between his supporters and detractors. Limbaugh does NOT tell his supporters WHAT to believe, rather he VERBALIZES what they already believe. That scares those who support big government and are looking for someone to lead them.
2. The author of this particular article obviously does NOT listen to Limbaugh. If he did, he would realize that racism is NOT part of the Limbaugh shtick. It is funny/frightening to many that ANY sort of criticism of your exalted BHO is labeled RACISM. To call a Marxist Socialist a Marxist Socialist does not refer to his RACE.
3. The man (Rush) is overweight, deaf (he has a cochlear implant), certainly not a slave to fashion, he has been fired from multiple jobs and started with next to nothing to build his own radio network probably worth a billion or so dollars.
4. He is called sexist racist bigoted homophobe since he identifies the activists groups of the democrat/liberal party and makes fun of them, in very much the same way that conservative religious patriotic common Americans are referred to as all being redneck toothless beer-bellied inbreds by the media elites who are at the center of pop-culture.
5. He has become the “de-facto” leader of the CONSERVATIVE movement – he refuses to be called a Republican since they have let down the conservatives by not standing up to the BHO loving socialists.
6. Say what you will about Limbaugh, but until you spend some time listening to him yourself you will not be able to understand his appeal to some 20,000,000+ VERY loyal listeners.
7. FYI - Bobby Jindal is someone that Limbaugh praises regularly as being a REAL conservative. Jindal may not give a good speech, but he appears to be governing the correct way in Louisiana, and Limbaugh holds him up as a example.
8. On the Steele issue, you might want to get the scoop from something other than the lefty blogs, MSNBC, and the other propagandists. You are buying into the left-handed spin. Limbaugh has praised Steele over and over. The BHO White House is simply using the Steele issue, and some others to attempt to divide the conservatives from the Republicans; they are NOT one in the same. The Republicans, or at least the ones your buddy refers to as the “smart republicans” HATE Limbaugh, because he calls them out for NOT being conservatives.
9. On the issue of capitalism being a failure, nothing can be further from the truth. Deregulation of the banking system is a red-herring argument from your buddies on the left. Government oversight would be welcomed by the free-market lovers, but government INTERVENTION is feared and despised since it always squelches the operation of the markets. When the government orders banks to give loans to people they KNOW would not normally be eligible they are concocting a recipe for disaster. This typifies the type of intervention that kicked off the economic "free fall" we are now in. Socialist want to blame it all on greed. Well, they have a valid point, but achievement is not always greed, and punishing success and achievement as evil greed will destroy economic prosperity. Our system of justice will allow some guilty to go free to keep from sending an innocent person to prison. “Innocent until proven guilty” is the operative phrase of our justice system. Perhaps we should use “successful until proven greedy” might be an operative phrase for our economic system. These CEO’s would not get the big bucks unless someone was willing to pay them. Sports figures get paid big bucks because someone is willing to pay them. What is the difference? The government should PUNISH the criminals and leave the rest of us alone. They need to start with the criminals inside the beltway, such as Barnie Frank, Chris Dodd and of course BHO the magnificent, and his cronies.
10. I think what puzzles me more than anything else is the venom which your buddy spills into his article for Limbaugh AND his listeners. He does NOT understand that Limbaugh does NOT tell those 20,000,000+ what to think. Limbaugh in a very significant way, regardless of his appearance, is using his voice to speak the thoughts of that 20,000,000+ Americans, which is certainly NOT an insignificant number. Your buddy doesn’t get that the release he feels by insulting Limbaugh is also taken personally by Limbaugh’s listeners.
11. The craziest of all is that if he hates Limbaugh so very much all he has to do is change the channel. He can always find NPR."

I do hope that this may give you some help defending El Rushbo against any of the liberal friends you may have left. Most of mine are EX-friends, because I am finished being attentive to their sensitivities.

An FEC Observation

Thanks to my brother, I discovered http://fec.gov/, the Federal Election Commission’s web site. In there you can find, by name, those who contributed to candidates running for President in the 2008 election cycle.

I searched by my home zip code. I was wondering how much my neighbors up the street, with the Obama yard sign, contributed.

In the web site listings, there is a field for ‘Employer/Occupation’. You can sort the data by fields, as well.

One thing I found interesting. All of those who put down that they were ‘Unemployed’, with-out exception contributed to Barack Obama, or to Hillary Clinton. It seems the quality of these candidate's followers speaks volumes.

For those unemployed, I had to think about exactly where those contributing funds came from in the first place. I am aggravated that at least some of my tax money was spent this way, lining Obama’s and Clinton’s campaign coffers. That much is just too much.

It is also noteworthy, that not one unemployed person, at least in my zip code, voted for McCain.

Just an observation.
